How Chelsea AiCademy built a global skill-tech ecosystem with TrainerCentral
"TrainerCentral, along with the Zoho ecosystem, has helped us build the infrastructure we needed to bridge global skill gaps. As we grow, the foundation we have built gives us the confidence to scale exponentially."
— Shiju Mathews, Managing Director of Chelsea AiCademyAbout Chelsea AiCademy
Chelsea AiCademy is a global upskilling and workforce enablement organization with over 25 years of experience in recruitment and immigration services. Operating across multiple countries, the academy helps international job seekers build the skills, language proficiency, and confidence needed to access global employment opportunities.
As demand for skilled talent grew across regions, Chelsea AiCademy saw an opportunity to move beyond recruitment support and create a structured learning ecosystem for upskilling, reskilling, and gap-skilling professionals. Recently, they've focused heavily on building AI skills.
We spoke to Shiju Mathews, Managing Director of Chelsea AiCademy about their journey.
The challenge
Chelsea AiCademy works closely with employers and job seekers across international markets. Over time, the team identified a recurring challenge: Employers were looking for skilled candidates, but many job seekers needed additional training before they could confidently meet international workforce requirements.
This gap was especially visible in areas such as language proficiency, healthcare, technical skills, and emerging technologies. Candidates often needed support in reading, writing, speaking, listening, certification preparation, and role-specific competencies before they could transition into overseas employment.
The academy initially relied on multiple tools for online classes, student communication, assessments, and operations. While these tools helped in the short term, they created a fragmented experience for learners, trainers, and administrators.

We relied on Microsoft and Google ecosystems, but the level of delivery wasn't great. There were so many challenges. It's too difficult to work with multiple applications.

Shiju Mathews,
Managing Director of Chelsea AiCademy
Chelsea AiCademy needed a reliable, all-in-one learning platform that could support global delivery, integrate with its broader operations, and provide a branded experience for students.
The solution: TrainerCentral
Chelsea AiCademy adopted TrainerCentral as part of its larger Zoho ecosystem. Having already used Zoho CRM and Zoho One, the team saw TrainerCentral as a natural extension of its digital infrastructure.
With TrainerCentral, Chelsea AiCademy began building a centralized platform for course delivery, live sessions, assessments, learner management, and trainer collaboration, all with their consistent branding.
The white-labeling capabilities helped Chelsea AiCademy offer learners a branded academy experience. Instead of moving between disconnected platforms, students could access classes, assignments, and learning materials through a unified environment. Mathews says that the platform helped the academy bring learning activities into a more structured environment.
A seamless experience for both learners and trainers
Before TrainerCentral, learners and trainers often had to depend on several tools for classes, communication, and assignments. TrainerCentral helped Chelsea AiCademy consolidate much of that experience into one platform.
Trainers now manage sessions, share learning materials, conduct assessments, and support students through structured workflows. Counselors and trainers also work together to track learner progress, re-engage students, and provide reminders or support when students face challenges. "With TrainerCentral, we could reduce dependence on fragmented tools and move toward a more connected learning ecosystem," Mathews says.
Extensive use of assessments
Chelsea AiCademy uses TrainerCentral to support a wide range of learning programs, including foreign language training, healthcare-related preparation, technical upskilling, and emerging technology programs.
Language training is a major focus area, with programs covering German, Spanish, French, English, and other languages. Because language proficiency requires assessments across reading, writing, speaking, and listening, initially it was a challenge to figure out how to test learners in all of the segments—especially reading and spoken proficiency.
Creating break rooms during live classes to assess learners' speaking capabilities was an easy solution for us. We give a project to 3-4 people and ask them to interact, engage in group discussion or debates, and Q&A to understand their real skills.
Shiju Mathews,
Managing Director of Chelsea AiCademy
Chelsea AiCademy uses TrainerCentral's assessment module to structure tests, create assignments, deliver live interactions, practice sessions, and mock assessments. TrainerCentral also supports all types of file formats for learner evaluation, including audio and video, documents, images, and more for easy skill assessments.
For professional learners such as nurses, doctors, teachers, and IT professionals, the academy uses the platform to support certification-style preparation, timed assessments, MCQs, short answers, and repeated practice. This gives students a more flexible and affordable way to prepare while still receiving trainer-led support through live sessions. The learner's journey ends with a certification as proof of upskilling/reskilling.
Support and partnership
As an early adopter of TrainerCentral, Chelsea AiCademy experienced the evolution of the platform firsthand and is committed to growing together in the partnership.
Mathews credits the TrainerCentral team for its consistent support through integrations, APIs, go-live assistance, and technical troubleshooting. He says that over time, improvements in the platform helped the academy move closer to its goal of operating fully within the Zoho ecosystem.
He reiterates that the assistance from Zoho's product and support teams played an important role in helping Chelsea AiCademy continue building and refining its learning operations.
The Chelsea AiCademy team sees the platform as a long-term asset. With the infrastructure now in place, the academy believes the business is positioned for exponential growth across new markets, training categories, and learner segments.
Looking forward
Chelsea AiCademy plans to expand its use of TrainerCentral and the Zoho ecosystem further by adding interactive, incentive-driven engagement using the Zoho Thrive integration.
