TrainerCentral helped B2B Energy reduce training management time by 50%
"I would say by implementing your training platform, it's released my time by an extra 50%. TrainerCentral provides what I call a training platform in a box. Very easy to work with, and I don't have to pay anyone to do it. I can self-deliver."
— Paul Webb, CEO of B2B EnergyThe company
B2B Energy, founded by Paul Webb in 2005, provides energy management consultancy and energy training for organizations and individuals across the UK. Paul has spent more than 40 years in the energy sector, building his expertise around energy management, energy reduction, and sustainability.
B2B Energy works with leisure centers, hotel groups, premiership football clubs, national stadiums, commercial buildings, and retail organizations. The company helps them manage energy consumption through Paul's four principles: review, realign, reduce, and report.
Paul's passion for energy management started early and has only grown stronger over the years. "Since I left school, I've been passionate about energy generation and energy management," he says.
After decades of consulting, Paul wanted to give back to the industry by teaching others the same energy management principles he uses with organizations. His training programs now help individuals and businesses understand energy management, start their net zero journey, and build long-term learning around sustainable energy practices.
Over the years, he has written books, published articles, launched podcasts, and interviewed experts worldwide to share knowledge and promote sustainable practices.
The challenge
Starting out, Paul realized that he needed multiple tools and platforms to create and manage his course. That was expensive and difficult to manage. That's when he started to look out for an all-in-one platform and his search led him to TrainerCentral.
Talking about the challenges he faced before TrainerCentral, Paul described the typical problem that every online business faces, “The challenges were that we had a significant outgoing cost while we were building the training system, but we didn’t have the flow of people doing the training.”
As someone who preferred being hands-on with technology and delivery, Paul needed a platform that would allow him to create independently, manage, and scale training programs without relying on external developers or technical teams. "I'm very hands on, very technical. I love software, so the approach for me was to do this myself."
Paul found the right platform with TrainerCentral.
Solutions using TrainerCentral by Zoho
TrainerCentral provided a complete training platform that was powerful, affordable, and easy to manage independently.
Talking about what drew him to the product instead of other competitors, Paul said,

I really liked the way that you balance really high-value technology and process with a low-cost approach.

The platform enabled Paul to quickly launch his online academy while maintaining full control over the learner experience. "TrainerCentral provides what I call a training platform in a box. Very easy to work with, and I don't have to pay anyone to do it. I can self-deliver," he explained.
Using TrainerCentral, Paul was able to create and deliver courses independently while maintaining the personal mentoring approach that defines his business.
When asked if he found it easy to build his academy on TrainerCentral, he answered: "100%".
How B2B Energy uses TrainerCentral
B2B Energy uses TrainerCentral to create and manage online training programs focused on energy management, sustainability, and lifelong learning.
Course creation and delivery
Paul built courses around the same four principles he applies in his real-world consultancy projects: review, realign, reduce, and report. The academy includes foundational energy management training, an 11-week energy program, technology-focused learning, and continuous learning resources.
Drip courses and lifelong learning
One of the features Paul particularly valued was the ability to drip-feed content and create long-term learning journeys for learners. "I love the way that I could drip stuff through," he shared.
This helped B2B Energy structure learning progressively instead of overwhelming learners with large amounts of content at once.
Learner onboarding and management
TrainerCentral helped Paul onboard learners quickly and efficiently. Since B2B Energy also provides mentoring and consulting alongside training, quick learner enrollment became an important part of the workflow.
Paul explained,
I can onboard people very quickly. If I meet with someone, I can just send them an email and invite them to do the training course. It's very quick.

Certificates and assignments
B2B Energy uses TrainerCentral's certificates, assignments, and learner progress tracking tools to support structured learning and mentorship.
Paul customized certificates with B2B Energy branding and uses assignments to understand learner progress and engagement patterns better.
Learner progress tracking and analytics
TrainerCentral's dashboard and learner tracking tools help Paul monitor how learners progress through courses and identify where additional mentoring may be needed. Speaking about learner progress tracking, Paul said, "Everyone has different learning levels, so it enables me to understand that better."
The impact
By moving to TrainerCentral, B2B Energy was able to simplify operations, reduce dependency on multiple tools, and significantly improve time efficiency. I would say by implementing your training program, it's released my time by an extra 50%.
For consultants and subject matter experts, TrainerCentral makes it possible to package expertise into scalable learning programs while still maintaining direct relationships with learners and clients.
Support experience
For Paul, one of the most important aspects of TrainerCentral was the support experience. "Your technical support is really good. If we had problems, you'd arrange an online call for me to demonstrate the problem, so you could take it away and fix it," he explained.
He especially appreciated the responsiveness and personal involvement of the support team. "I like the human touch, rather than listening to a mechanical voice when I call," he shared.
"Very professional approach. I always find you guys very polite," Paul added.
Looking forward
As B2B Energy continues expanding its training initiatives, Paul is exploring more ways to use TrainerCentral to support mentoring, learner engagement, and online collaboration.
With growing interest in energy management, sustainability, and Net Zero 2050 initiatives, B2B Energy plans to continue educating businesses and individuals through structured online learning programs.
Paul also looks forward to exploring TrainerCentral's white-labeled mobile learning experiences as the academy continues to grow.
